Sue Kiesewetter reports:
A bone marrow donor drive will be held Nov. 17 in the parking lot of a West Chester Township jeweler.
Yelton Fine Jewelers will host the Be the Match bone marrow donor drive in its parking lot, 9263 Schulze Dr. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., anyone aged 18-44 can register at the organization’s van to be a bone marrow donor.
A swab from inside the potential donor’s cheek will be taken as part of the process. Those who register will also be registered for one of 10 prizes offered by Yelton.
The cause is particularly important to the store because its founder, Ray Yelton, received a transplant many years ago.
“Though he is now gone, we want to ensure others have the same chance at a longer life with their loved ones that he was given,” said Tina Yelton, co-owner.
The Match Foundation raises funds to help patients who need a bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant find a donor and receive treatment.
