West Chester Farmers’ Market

The farmers’ market season in West Chester Township begins Saturday. The weekly market will take place every Saturday through October from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Square at Union Centre, 9285 Centre Pointe Drive.

The farmers’ market (picture above from previous market season) features all local vendors with produce and meats grown and raised locally and products made by hand. The availability of produce is dependent upon weather conditions, but shoppers can choose from a variety of foods including homemade breads and desserts, honey, jams and jellies.

West Chester to host last winter farmers’ market

West Chester Farmers’ Market

The final West Chester winter farmers’ market will take place this Saturday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Square at Union Centre. The regular farmers’ market season will begin May 18.

Once the regular season begins, the market will be open at the same location every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through mid-October.

Like in the summer, the winter farmers’ market features all local vendors with produce and meats grown and raised locally and products made by hand. The availability of produce is dependent upon weather conditions, but shoppers can choose from a variety of foods including homemade breads and desserts, honey, jams and jellies.

Shamrock Shuffle

Chamber awards – The West Chester ▪ Liberty Chamber Alliance 2013 Chamber Awards celebration is this Friday at the Cincinnati Marriott North near The Square at Union Centre in West Chester. The event begins at 6 p.m. and requires a ticket to attend, which had to be purchased prior to the event.

Saturday

Shamrock Shuffle – One of West Chester’s signature events, the Shamrock Shuffle, will take place Saturday morning at The Square at Union Centre. The event will have more than 4,000 people participate and help more than 50 local charities. Event-day registration begins at 7 a.m.

Self-defense class – The West Chester Police Department will offer a free self-defense class from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Saturday. According to a release, the class is designed to encourage individuals to be prepared and confident when faced with a potentially dangerous confrontation. The class is offered at the police department on Beckett Road.

Free mini model engineering show – There will be a special two-day mini model engineering show at EnterTRAINment Junction this Saturday and Sunday. According to the show’s release, the exhibit features working miniatures built by model craftsmen from throughout the Midwest. Hours for the exhibit are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The weekly farmers’ market season is over, but the winter farmers’ market will be open this Saturday at the Square at Union Centre. This Saturday’s market will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Additional winter farmers’ market sessions will take place April 6 and April 27. The market will take place, according to its website, rain, sleet, snow or shine.

Like in the summer, the winter farmers’ market also features all local vendors with produce and meats grown and raised locally and products made by hand. The availability of produce is dependent upon weather conditions, but shoppers can choose from a variety of foods including homemade breads and desserts, honey, jams and jellies.

Vendors listed on the farmers’ market website includes Adopt-a-Plant (hydroponic lettuces), Backyard Orchard (located in Rising Sun, Ind.), Blackbird Pond (soaps), Chesapeake Popcorn (gourmet seasonal popcorn), Chestnut Cakery (cakes, cookies, scones, whoopie pies, etc.), Crisenberry Baking Company (organic artisan breads and cookies), Chris’ Honey (local honey and bee wax products), Dienger Gardens at Double J Farm (greens, beets, leeks, onions, carrots, tomatoes, sweet corn, melons, pumpkins, potatoes, etc.), Gravel Knolls Farm (locally-grown produce), The Jam & Jelly Lady (homemade preserves), Millbranch Farm (produce, olive oil based soaps and lotions), Morning Sun Farm (organic beef, chicken, lamb, pork, lard, eggs and turkey; ground wheat and spelt flour; homemade cereals), Ohio Farm Direct (organic cheeses, yogurt, syrup, lettuce and tomatoes), Torta (bakery), True Nature Dog Treats (homemade treats for dogs), Webber’s Farm (vegetables) and Wooden Shoe Baked Goods (baked to order cookies and scones).

Weekly farmers’ market returns this week

West Chester Farmers Market

The weekly West Chester Farmers’ Market returns to the Square at Union Centre this Saturday, May 21. During the winter months, the West Chester Library hosts a farmers’ market once a month.

The weekly farmers’ market features all local vendors with produce and meats grown and raised locally and products made by hand. The availability of produce is dependent upon weather conditions, but shoppers will always find a good variety of foods including homemade breads and desserts, honey, jams and jellies and more.

“Part of the market’s charm is the interaction with colorful vendors who actually make or grow the things customers are buying,” market manager Linda Rosselot of The Feed Barn said in a release.

New to the farmers’ market this year is the Art Market, which will be featured on opening day (May 21) and on the second Saturday of each month through the remainder of the market season.

According to a release, the Art Market will feature the work of fine artists from throughout the region and will celebrate all aspects of the arts. Musicians, dancers, actors and performers of all varieties will be represented throughout the season.

The market will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market season runs through Oct. 15.

Winter Farmers’ Market to take place Saturday at library

The West Chester Winter Farmers’ Market continues this Saturday, April 30, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the West Chester Library. The spring/summer farmers’ market, which will take place every Saturday, begins May 21.

The West Chester Winter Farmers’ Market website previously listed 17 vendors that could be in attendance at this month’s winter market. Not all of the vendors will attend every farmers’ market.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday will have mostly sunny skies and a high near 75 degrees.

The West Chester Library is located at 9363 Centre Pointe Drive.

The West Chester Winter Farmers’ Market continues this Saturday, March 5, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the West Chester Library. There are two more scheduled winter farmers’ market this season. Those will take place April 2 and April 30 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the West Chester Library’s.

On the West Chester Winter Farmers’ Market website, there are 17 vendors listed to be in attendance at this month’s winter market. Not all of the vendors will attend every farmers’ market. During this Saturday’s farmers’ market there will be two rainy day drawings. Customers wearing rain gear or carrying an umbrella can enter their name for a chance to win $20 in market cash. The first drawing will be at 2:30 p.m. and the second drawing will be at 3:10 p.m.

Currently, the forecast for Saturday calls for showers and a possibly thunderstorm, according to the National Weather Service. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent. The high will be near 55 degrees.
