West Chester Township’s annual Great Pumpkin Fest will take place this Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Keehner Park. The fall festival includes family-friendly activities for children such as a variety of inflatable rides, crafts, pony rides and a petting zoo from Honey Hill Farm.

The Great Pumpkin Fest will once again also feature a not-so-scary haunted trail and a costume contest.

The Primrose School of West Chester costume contest begins at 3 p.m. on the amphitheatre stage. Registration for the contest begins at 2 p.m., and children will be entered into categories based on age.

West Chester Township police and fire departments will also be on hand with important safety information for families.

Concessions and some trinkets will be on sale at the event, but all activities at Pumpkin Fest are free.

Keehner Park is located at 7211 Barret Road in West Chester.

Residents were forced from nearly two dozen apartments when a two-alarm fire broke out in a complex in the 6700 block of Fountains Boulevard in West Chester Saturday.

The fire started about 12:15 p.m. at the Highlands Apartment complex in a building with 23 units.

West Chester firefighters – with help from Mason, Deerfield Township, Sharonville, Springdale and Liberty Township – put out the two-alarm fire in about an hour, but all of the occupants of the apartments were displaced.

They were being helped by the American Red Cross and apartment management to find places to stay Saturday night.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is still under investigation, but is believed to have been an electrical fire.

The apartments are located off Cincinnati-Dayton Road in between the I-75 ramps and Tylersville Road intersections.

The FIRST Team 1038 robotics will be at Pumpkin Fest for the first time demonstrating their work and showing guests how to build their own robots.

The Primrose School of West Chester costume contest begins at 3 p.m. on the amphitheatre stage. In addition to prizes for the contest winners of each age category, the West Chester Historical Society will also present a prize to the child with the best historical costume.

West Chester Township Police and Fire departments will also be on hand with important safety information for families.
