Sue Kiesewetter reports:
An improvement at the Tylersville Road/Grace Meadows Way intersection will close a portion of Tylersville Road for about a month beginning Aug. 12.
The project calls for filling in a dip on the east leg of Tylersville at the intersection, widening the road and adding two-foot paved shoulders. A new left turn lane on eastbound Tylersville to Grace Meadows Way will also be constructed.
“We continue to make improvements to Tylersville Road, once a rural carriage path across rolling terrain, now a major east-west artery through bustling West Chester Township,” said Greg Wilkens, Butler County engineer.
“The addition of subdivisions, schools, commercial, and retail development along its 10-mile length in Butler County makes it imperative that we continue our program of safety and capacity upgrades. This particular project will facilitate safer traffic flow along Tylersville and through the intersection.”
Barrett Paving Materials will do the work, which includes replacing a culvert, after submitting the low bid of $478,996. Money will come from the engineer’s budget.
During construction, Tylersville Road will close east of Grace Meadows Way, between Grace Meadows and Chantilly Dr. Grace meadows Way and the west leg of Tylersville Road would remain open. Access will be maintained for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles.
Eastbound Tylersville Road traffic would detour south on Ohio 747, east on Union Centre Boulevard and north on Cincinnati-Dayton Road. Westbound traffic would reverse the route.
Weather permitting; Tylersville Road is tentatively scheduled to reopen sometime during the week of Oct. 7.
