This is the final morning for the foreseeable future that the temperature will fall below 0.
It was minus 2 degrees with a wind chill of minus 12 at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport this morning, the National Weather Service in Wilmington reports.
Earlier, at 1:52 a.m., the low morning temperature was recorded at minus 6.
There’s one more bitterly cold day ahead. The mercury will only inch up to 0 by 8 a.m. and 11 degrees by noon.
A wind chill advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. today. Winds chills will range from minus 10 degrees to minus 15 degrees.
It will be mostly sunny. The high temperature should top out in the upper teens or low 20s.
The continued extreme cold conditions have more than 100 schools and businesses closing or on delays today.
Most major Ohio school districts in the area are operating on two hour delays, including Batavia, Cincinnati Public, Lakota, Lebanon, Mason and Mount Healthy.
