Don’t be surprised to see musicians from Lakota East and West high schools in your neighborhood Saturday.
Members of the Lakota East and West high school bands will go door-to-door in West Chester and Liberty townships, asking for donations during the annual Tag Day fundraiser.
Expect to see the teenagers in neighborhoods from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tag Day is the largest fundraiser for both school’s band program. Between the two high schools, there are six concert bands in grades 10-12 plus two large marching bands.
Money collected is used for uniform purchase and maintenance, along with other expenses. This year Lakota West’s 270-member marching band will have new uniforms paid for with Tag Day donations.
“These uniforms are a direct result of saving up from 12 years of Tag Days,’’ said Bill Hertz, communication chairman for the Lakota West Upbeat Club.
“Both East and West high school bands greatly appreciate all the support provided by the community for this fundraiser and throughout the year,’’
Online donations can also be made by going to each bands websites: www.lakotaeastbands.org or www.lakotawestbands.org
