Train layouts of all gauges will be on display next weekend, Oct. 20-21, at Lakota West High School for the 45th Annual Model Railroad Show.

The show runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., both days, at the West Chester Township school, 8940 Union Centre Blvd.

There will be model trains in all scales, operating layouts and displays, hourly door prizes and free how to classes. More than 250 retailers will have tables of merchandise and there will be free engine check-ups.

Admission is $7 for adults with children under 12 free. Scouts in uniforms will also be admitted free.

EnterTRAINment Junction in West Chester will open its newest holiday attraction, “Jack-O-Lantern Junction,” next Saturday, Sept. 22. The attraction, which is family friendly, will be available for the next six weeks to celebrate Halloween.

The attraction features a walk-through trick-or-treat maze with ghosts, skeletons and cobwebs. It also features an indoor pumpkin patch, multiple treat stations and a talking pumpkin.

Outdoors, the attraction offers a straw maze and train rides, including Halloween themed hand-cranked train cars plus a 1,000+ foot electric train ride skirting the outside of the building. Train rides operate weather permitting.

The rest of EnterTRAINment Junction will also be open, including its model train display and its A-Maze-N Funhouse attraction.

EnterTRAINment Junction is open seven days a week. Halloween activities begin Sept. 24 and run through Oct. 31. Hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Attraction pricing starts at $9.95. No charge for kids under age 2, and parking is free.

The Model Railroad Spring Flea Market and Swap Meet will take place at the Lakota West Freshman Campus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The show will feature model railroad equipment in all scales, plus videos, memorabilia and more.

Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for children between the ages of 11 and 15, and free for children under 10. Tables are $17. For reservations email rhord@fuse.net .

EnterTRAINment Junction in West Chester will be celebrating Christmas in July later this month, July 23-31. The event will feature the venue’s “Journey to the North Pole” attraction.

“Christmas At EnterTRAINment Junction in December is our most popular event, so we thought it would be fun and different to bring it back for a week this summer,” EnterTRAINment Junction owner Don Oeters said in a release.

According to a release, the Christmas event is part of EnterTRAINment Junction’s month-long American Celebration in July featuring patriotic music and decorations. Admission is free all month long for active military personnel with current military ID and discounts are also available on various ticket packages.

EnterTRAINment Junction and Coney Island are teaming up to offer special value-priced combination tickets, which will include a free admission ticket to Coney Island’s sunlite pool. The special tickets will be available for EnterTRAINment Junction customers from May 23 through June 26.

The EnterTRAINment Junction combination ticket also includes admission to the West Chester venue’s two attractions – Train Journey (the world’s largest indoor model train display) plus the new A-Maze-N FunHouse: (“The Greatest Funhouse on Earth”).

The Train Journey, in addition to housing the world’s largest indoor model train display, also includes a children’s interactive play area, the American Railroading Museum, expo center and outdoor hand-cranked locomotives and train ride (both weather permitting.) According to a release, the A-Maze-N FunHouse has 7,000 square feet of “wild, weird and wacky” attractions, such as the region’s only giant mirror maze, a discombobulating spinning vortex tunnel, a hilarious tilt room, the astonishing Ames Room, a confusing curtain maze, a claustrophobia hallway, an illusory endless corridor and more.

West Chester Township’s EnterTRAINment Junction will be offering discounted admission prices this spring April 4 through May 22. During that time, visitors who buy any admission will get half-off a second admission of equal or lesser value. In addition, visitors will receive a ticket for a return visit valid until May 22.

EnterTRAINment Junction is also offering free admission for moms on Mother’s Day on May 8.

There will be a special two-day mini model engineering show at EnterTRAINment Junction this weekend, March 12-13. According to the show’s release, the exhibit will have dozens of hand-built mini models on display.

One of the models on display will be a replica N&W J 611 locomotive steam engine in 15” gauge that is 37 feet long, nearly 6’ tall and weighs eight tons. This replica locomotive took three years to build by hand by Don Guill of Diamond Car Works in Shandon, Ohio.

Unique models at this year’s show are the 1/5th scale radial aircraft engines and a Mississippi river steamboat engine hand-built by Lee Hodgson of Ageless Engines of Cincinnati.

According to the show’s release, additional exhibitors will have on display an entire range of miniatures including, a hand-cranked Gatling Gun from the Civil War era, tractors and other farm equipment, a coal-fired steam locomotive, cars and trucks, pumps, belt machinery, and assorted other mechanical devices. Model engineering hobbyists will be on hand to talk about the miniatures and answer questions from the public.

The models will be on display Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, March 13, from noon to 5 p.m.

EnterTRAINment Junction in West Chester will once again feature free holiday train displays. EnterTRAINment Junction began showcasing its holiday event Nov. 20. The event will run daily through Jan. 2. The business will be closed, however, on Thanksgiving and on Christmas Day.

Christmas at EnterTRAINment Junction is in its third year and is extending its hours. Typically, the train attraction closes at 6 p.m., but through Dec. 18-23 it will close at 9 p.m. EnterTRAINment Junction will open at 11 a.m. Monday-Saturday and at noon on Sundays.

There are two special activities during the holiday season at EnterTRAINment Junction. They include “A Christmas Carol”-themed and a North Pole-themed walk-through experience. Tickets to the themed walks are $10.
