Where in West Chester to watch the NCAA Tournament

Posted by akiefaber March 22nd, 2012, 9:34 am Post a Comment

There a few West Chester sports bars featuring unique specials throughout March Madness. In no particular order here are the top local places to keep up with the NCAA Tournament.

Local sports bars should get a boost in business when the Cincinnati Bearcats take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the NCAA Tournament Thursday at 9:45 p.m. In the photo, senior Yancy Gates dunks on Providence's Brice Kofane in a game this past February. Photo taken by Joseph Fuqua II.

Willie’s Sports Café: There is not a seat in the entire restaurant that doesn’t have a television nearby at Willie’s Sports Café, 8188 Princeton-Glendale Road. During the NCAA Tournament, the staff at Willie’s will spin a wheel for specials at the start of every game and every half. Once the wheel lands on a special, which includes $1 16 oz. domestic drafts and 30-cent wings, it will be available until the wheel is spun again. On the next two Sundays, Willie’s will also give out raffle tickets to customers who spend at least $15. The grand prize of the raffle is a new Kindle Fire.

Dingle House Irish Pub Last weekend, Dingle House also had to deal with St. Patrick’s Day. This weekend, the attention will be on the Irish pub’s 17 plasma televisions. The Dingle House, 9102 Towne Centre Drive, will have food and drink specials while the tournament takes place, according to its website. The pub features 24 import and domestic craft beers.

Win Place or Show: Win Place or Show, 9933 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd., will also be offering specials during March Madness. On Thursday, the bar will have $1 select draft beers from 9 p.m. to close and .50 cent boneless wings. More importantly, Win Place or Show has 40 flat screen televisions.

Buffalo Wild Wings: This sports bar chain will not be offering any special deals, but remains a community favorite to watch a game. Equipped with 60 televisions and 24 beers on draft, Buffalo Wild Wings, should draw a good crowd throughout March Madness. Buffalo Wild Wings is located right off Union Centre Boulevard by I-75.

Other local bars that will have a good atmosphere when it comes watching a basketball game include Champps Americana (9424 Civic Center Blvd. at The Streets of West Chester), Eli’s Sports Bar & Grill (intersection of Princeton Road and SR 747) and The Back Porch Saloon (9626 Princeton-Glendale Road).

If you are not planning on attending the Opening Day festivities downtown tomorrow, March 31, but wanted to watch the game with fellow Cincinnati Reds fans in your hometown, here are a few good choices in the West Chester/Liberty Township area.

Opening Day In no particular order here are the top three places to chant, “Let’s go Reds!”

Eli’s Sports Bar: The newest sports bar in Liberty Township opened in mid-March and features a total of 11 42-inch flat-screen televisions and four eight-foot projection screens that surround its customers – making an ideal place to watch numerous games at once. Eli’s features a full bar, which offers 11 different beers and margaritas on tap. The sports bar will also have its happy hour from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. (if you were wondering, the game begins at 2:10 p.m.). Eli’s Sports Bar is located at the intersection of Princeton Road and SR 747. It can be reached by calling 513-868-3547.

Willie’s Sports Café: Willie’s Sports Café has plenty of televisions, food and beverage options. Most importantly, Willie’s will be serving up red beer and footlong hotdogs to celebrate Opening Day. Like Eli’s, Willie’s has a long happy hour (from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.). During that time, the sports bar will be offering 23 oz. domestic draft beers for $2.50 and pints of draft beer for $1.50. Willie’s also offers $3 off appetizers during happy hour. Willie’s is located at 8188 Princeton-Glendale Road in West Chester. It can be reached by calling 513-860-4243.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Buffalo Wild Wings is located right off Union Centre Boulevard by I-75. The sports bar features 60 televisions and 24 different beers on draft. This sports bar/restaurant will have its happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. During that time, draft beers will be a $1 off. It will also be boneless wing Thursday at Buffalo Wild Wings, so wings will .60 cents all day. Buffalo Wild Wings is located at 9242 Schulze Drive in West Chester. It can be reached by calling 513-942-9464.

Honorable mention: Other bars worth checking out include Win Place or Show, located at 9933 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd., The Back Porch Saloon, located at 9626 Princeton-Glendale Rd., Champps Americana, located at 9424 Civic Center Blvd. and Dingle House Irish Pub, located at 9102 Towne Centre Drive.
