Veterans Day deals in West Chester and Greater Cincinnati

Numerous chain restaurants will be offering special deals for veterans on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. West Chester restaurants offering specials include Applebee’s, UNO Chicago Grill, Little Caesars, Subway, T.G.I. Friday’s and Champps Americana.

Applebee’s, which is located at 6084 Mulhauser in West Chester, will be offering a free meal (choice of seven different menu items) to all veterans and active members of the military. For more information, visit applebees.com.

For all veterans and active members of the military – UNO Chicago Grill (9246 Schulze Drive) will be offering a 19.43 percent discount off food and non-alcoholic beverages, Little Caesars (8231 Cincinnati-Dayton Road) will be giving away free crazy bread, Subway (five West Chester locations) will serve up free six-inch subs, T.G.I. Friday’s (7656 Cox Lane – by Tylersville Road) will be offering a free entrée with a purchase of an entrée and Champps (Streets of West Chester) will give out free burgers.

There will also be various other restaurants in the Greater Cincinnati area that will have specials for veterans such as Outback Steakhouse, Bar Louie, BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse, Chili’s, Denny’s, Fox & Hound, Golden Corral, Famous Dave’s, Hooter’s, Texas Roadhouse and the Olive Garden.

The Military Wallet website, which lists these deals and others, reminds veterans and active military members to call ahead to verify locations, times and participation.

Urban Active is also offering free workouts all to veterans Friday.

TGI Friday’s to host fundraiser for Lakota West athletics

TGI Friday’s, located at 7656 Cox Lane in West Chester, will host a fundraiser Wednesday, Aug. 3, for the Lakota West High School Athletics Department.

The restaurant will offer a number of events throughout the evening including a 50/50 drawing and a flair show featuring bartenders flipping bottles.

In addition, 20 percent of all the dining proceeds will benefit the athletic department at Lakota West if the appropriate flyer is printed and presented at the restaurant.

Santa’s Nutcracker Breakfast extends registration period

Christmas Walk in Olde West Chester

MetroParks of Butler County has extended the registration period to Thursday, Dec. 9, for its Santa’s Nutcracker Breakfast, which will take place Saturday, Dec. 12, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Lodge at Voice of America Park in West Chester.

Previously, the deadline to register was Dec. 6. People can still register by calling 513-867-5835 or by registering online at www.metroparksofbutlercounty.org.

The event will feature special performances by the Northern Cincinnati Youth Ballet and is being catered by T.G.I Friday’s.

The cost is $14.95 per person and is $4.95 for children ages two and under. The cost must be received in advance of the event.

A motor vehicle permit is required to enter the park. They will be available at VOA’s entrance booth.

Voice of America Park is located at 7850 VOA Park Drive.

‘Dine Around for Charity’ begins tomorrow

The “Dine Around for Charity” event will begin this Wednesday, Nov. 3, and continue on different dates throughout the month. On certain dates, people can dine in or receive carryout at local restaurants and have a portion of their check donated to The Angel Fund at the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty.

The first opportunity to donate while you dine will be Nov. 3 at TGI Fridays, which is located on Cox Road. TGI Fridays and other participating restaurants ask that you bring in the coupon flier for the event. Fliers can be printed off at the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty website at www.wclfoundation.com.

The next opportunity will be Nov. 8-9 at Bob Evans, located at 9223 Schulze Drive in West Chester. City Barbeque, located at 7706 Voice of America Center Drive in West Chester, will donate 25 percent of the check Nov. 16 and UNO, located at 9246 Schulze Drive, will donate 20 percent of the check Nov. 23-24 to benefit The Angel Fund.

According to the event’s press release, The Angel Fund benefits residents and/or persons employed in West Chester/Liberty, who are in an extraordinary, unusual or urgent situation and have not been able to secure assistance by any other means. Recipients are nominated by a friend, neighbor, school official, employer or some other who becomes their Angel. Some recent Angel Fund beneficiaries were homeless and needed shelter, could not afford a funeral for a loved one, or needed a car fixed so that they could get back to work.
