According to Cincinnati.com, Lakota West High School’s production of the musical “Sweeney Todd” won multiple 2011 Cappies Awards.
The Cappies, “Critics and Awards Program,” is a program through which high school theater and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews in local newspapers like The Washington Post, Cincinnati Enquirer, Dallas Morning News, Kansas City Star and The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Winners from the Greater Cincinnati area were announced this past Saturday, May 21, at a gala at the Aronoff Center.
The “Sweeney Todd” production, which was performed in early April, won awards for makeup, ensemble in a musical, supporting actress in a musical and supporting actor in a musical.
Emily George and Taylor McBee won for makeup; Mitra Jouhari won for supporting actress; and Max Jansen won for supporting actor.
