After developing five areas – organization, resource and finance, community, technology, and student – to study, the steering committee wants more public input. Residents throughout the district are being asked to give their opinion on the work to date.
“Do we have the right action steps to reach those goals? Have we missed any steps? Do you like what the …team has done?” said Lon Stettler, who is guiding the effort. “That’s what we want the community to tell us through the survey.”
A copy of the 17-page document and the survey, are on the district’s website, www.lakotaonline.com. The survey is only online and will remain there through Monday.
For each of the five areas there is a corresponding question(s) in the survey. There are also two questions asking community opinion on revised mission and vision statements.
Each of five committees that have developed the action plan to reach goals in its area will meet Monday evening with the steering committee for its comments.
Those comments, combined with survey results will be used to compile each committee’s final plan. Those plans will be put together into one document by the steering group and presented to the school board in November, Stettler said.
The process to create the district strategic plan began last January. Community members along with educators have served on the committees.
