The son involved in an bloody argument with his mother and father in Liberty Township early Thursday is in custody at the Butler County Jail.
Matthew Grove, 23, was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence after an argument in which all three family members were stabbed. Grove was transported to West Chester Hospital Thursday, but taken to jail after he was released Friday, officials at the jail confirmed.
His father, Richard Grove, 64, was flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center Thursday after the incident. He was in stable condition Thursday, and hospital officials also did not immediately respond for inquiries about his condition Friday evening.
The mother, Sharon Grove, 58, was also stabbed. She was charged with domestic violence and arraigned Thursday morning.
All are expected to recover, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
“A domestic violence situation can turn at any moment,” Sgt. Rob Whitlock said Thursday.
The scene inside the two-story white house with a long, wrap-around front porch was bloody when authorities were called just after 5 a.m.
Sheriff’s investigators said they are still trying to figure out what sparked the domestic dispute.
One knife was used in the attack, and no one else was in the home at the time, Whitlock said.
