Posted by akiefaber September 13th, 2012, 2:21 pm Post a Comment

Sue Kiesewetter reports:

Helicopter landings, a fire safety house for children and a robot used by the bomb squad are just a few of the attractions offered at this Saturday’s Safety Fair at the Bridgewater Falls shopping complex in Fairfield Township.

For the seventh year, the shopping center has partnered with the township’s police and fire departments to put on the free event. It runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the shopping complex behind Mattress Firm and Party City.

More than two dozen vendors, and demonstrators and exhibits will focus on person, home and child safety. Participating groups come from several Butler County police and fire organizations, the sheriff’s office, Air Care and Care Flight, the county’s Technical Rescue and Hazmat units and others.

“You’ll be able to practice putting out a fire by using fire hose to shoot at the fire through the window of a simulator,’’ said Ben Bultman, Fairfield Township’s assistant fire chief.

“We’ll bring the fire rescue house, fire trucks, life squads and equipment from the fire department.”

There will be University of Cincinnati Air Care and Maimi Valley Care Flight helicopter landings, skydivers from Middletown-based Team Fastrax along with fingerprinting of children.

Rain date is Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no cost.
