West Chester Township’s “Movies in the Park” series, sponsored by the West Chester Fire Department, is scheduled to wrap up next Friday night, Sept. 28, at the Keehner Park amphitheatre. The movie, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, will begin at dusk.
The movie showing is free to attend. Attendees are recommended to bring blankets, lawn chairs, bug repellent and snacks. Popcorn and beverages will be provided.

Throughout the summer, the West Chester Library has shown free family-friendly movies Thursday mornings. Recently, the library added more showings in August.
After listing movies until Aug. 4, the West Chester Library online calendar added Thursday morning showings for Aug. 11 and Aug. 18. The scheduled movie this Thursday is Cars (part 1) and next Thursday’s featured film will be Toy Story (part 1). Both showings will begin at 10 a.m.
Additional activities taking place at the library this week include a meeting for the West Chester Library writers’ group this Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. and two sessions of “I’m going to kindergarten” Friday, Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
The “I am going to kindergarten” event is for children entering kindergarten this school year, which begins Aug. 30 in the Lakota school district. The event will include stories about going to kindergarten, songs and rhymes and practice of kindergarten skills, according to a release. Registration is required.
