Roger Lee Fox Jr., 49, administrator of Ohio Little League District 9, was indicted on 14 felony charges of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor. Butler County sheriff’s detectives arrested the Hamilton resident around 11 p.m. Friday.
Local Little League officials expressed shock on Saturday after hearing the news and had more questions than answers. Ohio District 9 takes in 11 leagues in Butler, Warren, Clinton, Hamilton, Clermont, Brown and Highland counties.
Steve Monnin, president of West Side Little League in Hamilton, said he was fielding calls Saturday from people who know Fox.
“Shocked,” he said of the general reaction. “I’ve known him forever. He coaches. He’s a high school referee, an umpire. He’s out in the community everywhere. Everybody knows him. He’s a good guy.”
The charges stem from incidents in March 2010, June 2012 and August 2012, according to court documents filed in Butler County. It’s unclear whether the images involve local children.
However, some of the charges accuse Fox, a Hamilton resident, of creating, recording, photographing, filming, developing, reproducing or publishing pornographic material.
Sheriff’s officials could not be reached Saturday.
Fox’s Facebook page says he is employed by ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America and runs his own DJ business for weddings, teen dances and other events.
Fox would not have had a lot of direct contact with children in his job as district administrator, West Side Little League Treasurer David Hughes said.
That duty involved making sure district leagues followed the rules. Fox would show up at special events such as opening day and state tournaments, Hughes said.
“Roger seemed like a very like a very straight-laced guy. I would never have imagined this,” he said.
