Liberty Township Easter egg hunt set for March 30

Posted by akiefaber March 7th, 2013, 2:37 pm Post a Comment

Sue Kiesewetter reports:

More than 4,000 plastic eggs filled with candy will be hidden throughout Liberty Park for Liberty Township’s March 30 Easter egg hunt.

The 10 a.m., hunt at the park, located at 6757 Yankee Road, behind the Lakota Family YMCA, is open to children ages 1-8. They will be divided into four age groups to hunt for eggs.

Children ages, 1 and 2, will be sent to the field when the horn is sounded at 10 a.m. One parent will be allowed to escort their child.

Once the children have collected eggs, staff will set up for the 3 and 4 year olds who will hunt for their eggs, at 10:30 a.m.

When they have finished, eggs will be put out for the 5 and 6 year olds who will begin at 11 a.m. The final group, 7 and 8 year olds will begin looking for eggs at 11:30 a.m.

Each hunt should last 5-10 minutes with 20 minutes to set up for the next group and distribute prizes.

Children may bring a basket, bag or other container to collect the candy-filled eggs. Some of the eggs will contain prize tickets, with one grand prize being awarded in each age category. A child may only receive one prize.

The Easter Bunny will roam the field, hand out candy and be available for pictures from 10 a.m. to noon in the first picnic shelter. Parents should bring cameras for pictures.

In case of inclement weather the hunt will move to inside the adjoining Lakota YMCA, 6703 Yankee Road.

There is no cost for the egg hunt and advance registration is not required

Helicopter Easter Egg Drop in Liberty Township Saturday

Posted by akiefaber March 19th, 2012, 4:58 pm Post a Comment

Sue Kiesewetter reports

Eggs will start dropping from the sky at 10 a.m. Saturday for the second annual Helicopter Egg Drop at The River Church in Liberty Township.

About 2,000 brightly-colored, plastic eggs filled with candy will be dropped from a helicopter where they will join about 10,000 other eggs on a large field at the church, 5546 Cincinnati-Dayton Road.

“Last year we had close to 1,000 people – over 400 kids and their parents – and we had 10,000 eggs,’’ said Debbie Fortenboher, who is one of the organizers of the Children’s Ministry sponsored egg drop.

“We hold the kids back while the helicopter drops the eggs. Then we let the kids go search for them. It’s a lot of fun.”

There is no cost for the egg hunt, which is open to the community. Children are divided into two groups to hunt for eggs: those age two through kindergarten; and those in grades 1-5.

Each group will hunt for eggs on a large field, divided in half for each age group. Before and after the egg hunt children can do a craft, get their picture taken with the Easter bunny, participate in a cupcake walk, and play games.

Families are asked to pre-register their children online at www.hittheriver.com Check-in and registration for those who haven’t pre-registered, begins at 9 a.m., the same time activities start.

For more information or to register, call 513-755-7777, email info@hittheriver.com.
