Buy a cookie today at Chick-fil-A and help orphans

Sue Kiesewetter reports:

Two Butler County Chick-fil-A stores are among nine in Greater Cincinnati participating in a Liberty Township-based charity’s fundraiser to benefit orphan care worldwide.

All proceeds from any chocolate chunk cookie picked up or purchased on Wednesday at Chick-fil-A will go to A Child’s Hope International’s orphan care program.

“We hope to be able to share some of the benefit with area groups such (as) Restavek Foundation Back2Back Ministries who care for orphans or kids in foster care,’’ said Larry Bergeron, founder. “It is only one day and we are hoping for a large turnout of people who care for the orphan, the fatherless and the vulnerable child.”

Cookies can be purchased in a one pack, 6-pack, 12-pack tray or 24-pack tray. Orders can be phoned in to any of the restaurants in advance for pickup, or they can be ordered through the charity and delivered anywhere in the United States.

“Unlike ‘promotions’ that many are familiar with … where the company takes a huge slice of the profits, all of these proceeds will go directly to the children,’’ Bergeron said. “The question is this – will people care to help?”

Chick-fil-A restaurants are located at 7733 Voice of America Park Dr. in West Chester and at 3403 Princeton Road in the Bridgewater Falls shopping complex in Fairfield Township.

A Child’s Hope International and Kids Against Hunger merge websites

Posted by akiefaber December 3rd, 2012, 8:05 am Post a Comment

Sue Kiesewetter reports:

A Liberty Township-based charity that helps feed children around the world has a new website.

Kids Against Hunger and its parent group, A Child’s Hope International have formed a new website – www.TheChildrenAreWaiting.org – to make it easier to consolidate efforts. It took effect this past Saturday.

The new site allows the public to register for Kids Against Hunger packing days. On those days volunteers pack and then vacuum-seal, nutrition-rich meals for children in the United States and across the globe.

There are interactive maps and pictures of children around the world that are helped by the charity on the website.

New to the site is information about adoption, foster care, orphan care and book, Journey to the Fatherless, written by Larry Bergeron, founder of A Child’s Hope International.

At the website visitors can find the hidden words Help Us Move within the website, complete a contact us block and be entered to win a donated WiFi-enabled iPad II or have funds donated to help feed children.

Those who find a glitch and submit it will be included in a drawing of a signed hard cover edition of Journey to the Fatherless.

Entries are due Dec. 14 for the Dec. 15 drawing.

For more information, call 513-771-2244.
