With it being race week at the nearby Kentucky Speedway, NASCAR driver Ryan Newman will be in West Chester Wednesday for the Kroger Fan Fest.
Kentucky Speedway, which is roughly 35 miles from the West Chester Kroger at 7855 Tylersville Road, is hosting the Quaker State 400 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. It will be the third Sprint Cup race weekend in the history of the track.
Meanwhile, in West Chester, the fan fest will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. and will feature a visit from Newman from 5 to 7 p.m., along with a NASCAR show car, simulators and tire changing units.
The free event will also feature food, raffle prizes and games.
Furthermore, all proceeds from the event will benefit local Crayons to Computers. The local non-profit organization operates a teacher free store that partners with almost 500 schools in Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. The program ensures that more than 100,000 students, from preschool to 12th grade, receive basic school supplies.
“We are so grateful for the long-standing partnership we have with the Kroger. Their support and commitment has been unwavering,” Susan Frankel, president of Crayons to Computers. “We are looking forward to a very successful event.”
During the 2012-2013 school year, Crayons to Computers distributed $12.3 million in free school supplies to teachers. To make a donation, to volunteer or to receive more information, visit www.crayons2computers.org or call 513-482-3290.
