Community Foundation’s Key Event to take place Saturday

The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty will be hosting their 19th annual Key Event this Saturday. The event is the Community Foundation’s largest fundraiser of the year.

This unique event draws more than 600 people and raises more than $140,000. According to the Community Foundation, the money raised at the event allows it to fulfill its mission of facilitating charitable dollars through its grants to nonprofit organizations serving the community.

This year, the Key Event will begin with a cocktail party at 5 p.m. at the Savannah Center in West Chester. The event will feature a silent and live auction, as well as a basket raffle.

Upon arrival at the Savannah Center, guests randomly pick a key that will open a door revealing their random dining destination in one of the 30-plus area homes.

Each home will feature a local chef, who will prepare a unique dinner for Key Event guests.

Chefs include Michelle Brown from Jags, Nat Blanford from Embers, Troy Meyers from Troy’s Café and Catering, Brittney Holland from P&G, personal chefs Pam and Paul Sturkey, Linda and Jim Pitrelli from Pitrelli’s Italian Ristorante, personal chef Kenneth Webber, Lisa and David Cook from Daveeds’s NEXT, Lisa Lizzio from At Your Service Catering, Paul Deggenbach from The Polo Grille, Bryan Hopping from Eddie Merlots, Mark Bodenstein from Nicholson’s Tavern & Pub, Jackson Rouse from Smog, Lori Cole from Savory Medody’s, Chris Hendricks from Stone Creek Dining, Jaime Carmody from Out of Thyme and Kevin Worthington and Joel Gragorcyk of Palomino Rotisserie and Bar.

The evening concludes with an after party hosted at the home of Dick and Patti Alderson.

House Speaker John Boehner and wife to cook for charity

At this year’s Key Event, which is put together by the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty, a dinner with House Speaker John Boehner and his wife, Debbie, will be one of the live auction items.

John Boehner According to a release from the community foundation, John Boehner is a “chef extraordinaire” and has agreed to prepare dinner with his wife as sous-chef at their Wetherington (gated community in West Chester) home.

The auction item will be available for 12 diners.

Patti Alderson and Debbie Boehner lead the Key Event, which is in its 18th year. The Key Event raises more $100,000 and hosts 450 guests, according to the community foundation.

This year, the Key Event will begin at the Marriott North at 5 p.m. Sept. 17 with a cocktail party that includes a live and silent auction.

Upon arrival at the Marriott, each couple draws a key that will open a door revealing their random dining destination in one of 30 host homes for the evening.

Each home will feature a local chef from the Greater Cincinnati area, who will prepare a unique dinner for Key Event guests. All chefs are provided with the same ingredients; however, they are encouraged to use their expertise and talents to create a special dinner menu.

The event will feature chefs Michelle Brown (Jags), Pam and Paul Sturkey, Peng S. Looi (Asiatique), Cole Arimes (Embers), Chris Hendricks (Stone Creek Dining), Henry Warman (The Savannah Center), Paul Deggnbach (deSha’s), Linda and Jim Pitrelli of Pitrelli’s Italian Ristorante) and 21 others.

The Key Event has already sold out. Call the community foundation’s office at 513-874-5450 to be added to the waiting/cancellation list. There are a limited number of “cocktail only” tickets still available.

The unique event, presented by Clark-Theders Insurance Agency, Inc., and North Ridge Realty Group, draws more than 450 people, while raising more than $100,000 for the communities of West Chester and Liberty Townships.

This year, the Key Event will begin at the Savannah Center at 5 p.m. with a cocktail party that includes a live and silent auction. A special 9/11 Memorial ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Upon arrival at the Savannah Center, each couple draws a key that will open a door revealing their dining destination. For those guests who wish to dine with friends, there is an opportunity to guarantee dinner with another couple by purchasing a reservation for 2 couples at the price of $500. For those guests who would like to spend an evening entertaining clients, friends or other associates, the foundation is offering a limited number of homes (8 couples) for $2,500.

A special opportunity has been created to encourage new attendees at the Key Event. If you are a new attendee or if you would like to invite a first-time attendee to the event, both couples may dine in the same home for $400. This is a $100 discount from the current price for guests wishing to dine in the same home.

All other reservations are $200/per couple.

The evening concludes with an after party featuring the Modulators, hosted at the home of Dick and Patti Alderson.
