At this year’s Key Event, which is put together by the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty, a dinner with House Speaker John Boehner and his wife, Debbie, will be one of the live auction items.
According to a release from the community foundation, John Boehner is a “chef extraordinaire” and has agreed to prepare dinner with his wife as sous-chef at their Wetherington (gated community in West Chester) home.
The auction item will be available for 12 diners.
Patti Alderson and Debbie Boehner lead the Key Event, which is in its 18th year. The Key Event raises more $100,000 and hosts 450 guests, according to the community foundation.
This year, the Key Event will begin at the Marriott North at 5 p.m. Sept. 17 with a cocktail party that includes a live and silent auction.
Upon arrival at the Marriott, each couple draws a key that will open a door revealing their random dining destination in one of 30 host homes for the evening.
Each home will feature a local chef from the Greater Cincinnati area, who will prepare a unique dinner for Key Event guests. All chefs are provided with the same ingredients; however, they are encouraged to use their expertise and talents to create a special dinner menu.
The event will feature chefs Michelle Brown (Jags), Pam and Paul Sturkey, Peng S. Looi (Asiatique), Cole Arimes (Embers), Chris Hendricks (Stone Creek Dining), Henry Warman (The Savannah Center), Paul Deggnbach (deSha’s), Linda and Jim Pitrelli of Pitrelli’s Italian Ristorante) and 21 others.
The Key Event has already sold out. Call the community foundation’s office at 513-874-5450 to be added to the waiting/cancellation list. There are a limited number of “cocktail only” tickets still available.
