David Lewis announced that he would run against House Speaker John Boehner in next year’s primary. Lewis made the announcement in front of Boehner’s local office in West Chester Monday.
Lewis, who is also a Tea Party member, also posted television advertisements on his website Monday. The three advertisements attack Boehner for “betraying his word.” One ad claims that Boehner could have “defunded” Planned Parenthood, but “caved in to Obama.”
The ads show pictures of aborted fetuses.
According to Lewis’ website, he is a devout Christian, Tea Party leader and pro-life leader. Also according to his web page, Lewis has been recently arrested at John Boehner’s (R) and Harry Reid’s (D) offices over government funding of “businesses that murder children.”
Meanwhile, while Lewis was announcing his candidacy, Boehner was in town giving a speech to small business owners at the University of Cincinnati.
Boehner, in a speech and a question-and-answer session that last about half an hour, had little specific to say about the president’s jobs bill, which was delivered to Congress Monday, or the president’s ideas for reducing the deficit, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Later Monday afternoon, Boehner (photo) went to his hometown of West Chester and toured the Humana RightSource RX facility, which packages medications.
