A young girl with local ties, who has stage 3 cancer, will be the focus of a benefit this Saturday at Keehner Park. The fundraiser will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at the park’s coyote shelter.
Friends of her family describe Gabby Bowling as a lively, energetic and happy six-year-old girl. However, in the beginning of August, she had a stomach ache and found out she had a tumor and kidney cancer.
Bowling has since had a kidney removed as well as the tumor.
She now has to endure chemotherapy and radiation.
Bowling’s mother, Amy, used to live in the area and is now a bus driver for the Boone County (Ky.) school district. Due to Gabby’s illness, her mother has been unable to work.
The fundraiser will include food and drinks for donations, a bake sale and cake auction, a cornhole tournament with winner splitting the pot with Gabby and raffle tickets.
Raffle tickets are $1 each for $5 for six. Raffle Items include merchandise and gift cards from, Jimmy Johns, Oberers Flowers, Dewey’s Pizza, McAlisters, Groutzi Mirror by Vicki, Cazadores, Abuelo’s, Gameworks, Mimi’s Café, Gold Canyon Candle and more. Jewlrey and a Macy’s Barbie doll will also be in the raffle.
Donations can also be made at 5th 3rd bank locations to the account “for the benefit of Gabby Bowling.”
