Lakota East remains perfect with win vs. Fairfield

Posted by akiefaber January 15th, 2011, 3:47 pm Post a Comment

Middletown at Lakota East

The Lakota East basketball program kept its perfect record when it defeated Fairfield Jan. 14 by the score of 66-55. The win improved the Thunderhawks’ record this season to 10-0 overall and 5-0 within the Greater Miami Conference.

Lakota East senior guard Michael Boyd led all scorers with 16 points in the win, 14 of which came from the free-throw line.

Junior guard James Turner, who scored a career high 15 points, led Fairfield.

The Thunderhawks’ undefeated record will be in jeopardy early this week.

On Monday, Jan. 17, at 11:30 a.m., Lakota East will have to play Lee High School (Huntsville, Ala.), who are the defending big school champs in Alabama, in the Flyin’ to the Hoop event in Dayton, Ohio. Lee also features the 6-foot-7 Devin Langford, who is committed to Illinois.

If the Thunderhawks survive that matchup with their record unscathed, they will have to play a road game at Mason the following night, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m. The Comets are currently 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the GMC this season.
