Where in West Chester to watch the NCAA Tournament

Posted by akiefaber March 22nd, 2012, 9:34 am Post a Comment

There a few West Chester sports bars featuring unique specials throughout March Madness. In no particular order here are the top local places to keep up with the NCAA Tournament.

Local sports bars should get a boost in business when the Cincinnati Bearcats take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the NCAA Tournament Thursday at 9:45 p.m. In the photo, senior Yancy Gates dunks on Providence's Brice Kofane in a game this past February. Photo taken by Joseph Fuqua II.

Willie’s Sports Café: There is not a seat in the entire restaurant that doesn’t have a television nearby at Willie’s Sports Café, 8188 Princeton-Glendale Road. During the NCAA Tournament, the staff at Willie’s will spin a wheel for specials at the start of every game and every half. Once the wheel lands on a special, which includes $1 16 oz. domestic drafts and 30-cent wings, it will be available until the wheel is spun again. On the next two Sundays, Willie’s will also give out raffle tickets to customers who spend at least $15. The grand prize of the raffle is a new Kindle Fire.

Dingle House Irish Pub Last weekend, Dingle House also had to deal with St. Patrick’s Day. This weekend, the attention will be on the Irish pub’s 17 plasma televisions. The Dingle House, 9102 Towne Centre Drive, will have food and drink specials while the tournament takes place, according to its website. The pub features 24 import and domestic craft beers.

Win Place or Show: Win Place or Show, 9933 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd., will also be offering specials during March Madness. On Thursday, the bar will have $1 select draft beers from 9 p.m. to close and .50 cent boneless wings. More importantly, Win Place or Show has 40 flat screen televisions.

Buffalo Wild Wings: This sports bar chain will not be offering any special deals, but remains a community favorite to watch a game. Equipped with 60 televisions and 24 beers on draft, Buffalo Wild Wings, should draw a good crowd throughout March Madness. Buffalo Wild Wings is located right off Union Centre Boulevard by I-75.

Other local bars that will have a good atmosphere when it comes watching a basketball game include Champps Americana (9424 Civic Center Blvd. at The Streets of West Chester), Eli’s Sports Bar & Grill (intersection of Princeton Road and SR 747) and The Back Porch Saloon (9626 Princeton-Glendale Road).

Write Santa or have breakfast with him Saturday

Posted by akiefaber December 2nd, 2011, 10:54 am Post a Comment

Children have a choice this Saturday, they could either work on their Christmas lists at the West Chester Library or tell Santa what they want over pancakes at Eli’s Sports Bar and Grill.

Children can write their Christmas wish list and decorate an envelope to send to Santa from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the library. The “drop-in” event does not require registration.

Prior to the library’s event, Eli’s Sports Bar, 4895 Princeton Road in Liberty Township, will host Santa for breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

“It’s a bring your own camera event,’’ said Melanie Brokaw, Liberty Township’s assistant administrator and liaison to the Events Committee. “Santa will be arriving on our original 1953 fire truck escorted by our fire chief.”

The menu includes all you can eat pancakes, bacon donated by Eli’s, hot chocolate, juice and coffee.

Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children, which includes a $2 donation for every adult ticket and $1 from every child’s ticket, to the Liberty Township campus of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Tickets can be purchased at the township administration building, 6400 Princeton Road. Make checks payable to the Liberty Township Charitable Fund.

For more information about the breakfast, call 513-759-7500. To find out more about the library event, call 513-777-3131.
