Jennifer Baker reports:
Nearly 200 pot plants were found growing in the basement of a West Chester home last week, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office announced this morning.
Agents with the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics (BURN) Task Force and the United States Postal Inspections searched a house Thursday at 7820 Plantation Drive, located in the Ivory Hills subdivision off Tylersville Road just west of Interstate 75.
Agents had tracked packages of drugs being sent to a resident from Southern California.
Authorities seized just over 4 pounds of marijuana that was sent through the mail.
Then, once they entered the home, they found 190 marijuana plants growing in the basement. They also discovered drug paraphernalia and hypodermic needles.
In addition to the drugs, agents seized a 2002 Lexus.
Lewis Thomas III, 27, was arrested and charged with felony cultivation of marijuana.
An investigation is ongoing. Other suspect(s) and/or charges are expected.
