MetroParks of Butler County will host its second annual Howloween costumed dog parade this Sunday, Oct. 9, at Voice of America Park in West Chester.
Last year, the event attracted more than 150 entries and 500 spectators.
This year will feature new additions including demonstrations by the State Highway Patrol K-9 Unit, vendors with dog products and treats and light fare will also be available.
Adoption/Rescue organizations such as SPCA, PAWS, Animal Friends Humane Society and GRRAND will also be on hand for information or pet adoptions.
“We are so excited for this year’s event,” said Tanya Zerkle, event chair and volunteer. “The first year’s costumes were just amazing and this year will be even bigger and better. Get crazy and creative with your designs … just be sure to keep the costumes safe and comfortable for your pet.”
Owners and their pooches are encouraged to dress in costume for the parade to be eligible for awards. Prizes for top three will be awarded in four categories: Best Costume Small Dog, Best Costume Large Dog, Best Costumes Dog and Owner/Handler and Best Costumes/Theme Multiple Dogs.
