A former Lakota administrator has been named principal at McAuley High School.
Dan Minelli, who spent one year as assistant principal at Heritage Elementary in the mid-1990s will leave St. Xavier High School at the end of the school year.
Minelli replaces Cheryl Sucher who is retiring in June after 27 years at McAuley. Minelli begins work there in July.
“I look forward to serving as the principal of McAuley High School as the culmination of my career, the Catholic education leadership opportunity for which my experiences thus far have prepared me,’’ Minelli said.
“My passion for Catholic education and working with adolescents is a lifelong vocation.”
For the past dozen years Minelli has served as assistant principal for freshmen and sophomores at St. Xavier High School. He came to St. Xavier in 1999 to teach religion.
During his 32 years as an Catholic educator, the Fairfield Township resident also served as principal at Our Mother of Sorrows School and as a teacher and assistant principal at Sacred Heart School in Fairfield.
Minelli holds a masters’ degree from Miami University and has done post graduate work in church leadership at Thomas More College, the University of Dayton and Xavier University.
He is very active in liturgical music both at St. Xavier and Sacred Heart Church, where is worships. Minelli has also served as music director at St. Veronica and Our Mother of Sorrows churches in the past.
