Lakota West defeats Colerain 77-71 in OT

For the second straight Friday, Lakota West won a close game against a Greater Miami Conference opponent. This time, the Firebirds blew a 12-point lead in the second half only to go onto a 77-71 overtime win against Colerain.

Colerain at Lakota West Last Friday, Lakota West handed Middletown its first conference loss of the season when it won by the score of 56-53.

In the overtime win against Colerain, junior Monty Boykins recorded a season high 26 points and pulled down a career high 15 rebounds for Lakota West. Teammates, sophomore Tyler Williams added 14 points and junior Ali Barnes finished with 20 points.

Senior Elisha Campbell led Colerain with 21 points. His teammates, juniors C.J. Reed and Milton Davis each scored 15 points in the loss.

In its next game, Lakota West will visit Oak Hills (7-7 overall, 5-4 in the Greater Miami Conference) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Colerain will also be in action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Mason (13-2 overall, 7-2 in the GMC).

Colerain comes back to defeat Lakota East 47-45

Colerain outscored Lakota East 29-14 in the fourth quarter en route to a 47-45 comeback victory against Lakota East Friday. The loss extends the Thunderhawks losing streak to three games.

Lakota West at Lakota East Meanwhile, Colerain won its second straight game and its first against a Greater Miami Conference opponent this season.

Juniors Milton Davis (16 points) and Deiontay Walter (12 points) led Colerain.

Lakota East was led by 6-foot-6 freshman Alex White, who scored a career high 13 points.

The Thunderhawks will be back in action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when they host Middletown (9-4 overall, 6-1 in the GMC). Colerain will also be in action at the same time Tuesday when it will visit Hamilton (3-10 overall, 1-6 in the GMC).

Cold shooting Thunderhawks lose to Colerain

Lakota East made less than 24 percent of its field goal attempts in a 53-47 loss to Greater Miami Conference foe Colerain Saturday.

Lakota West at Lakota EastColerain made 37 percent of its field goals and was led by seniors Shelly Harper (17 points, 7 rebounds) and Kristen Thompson (14 points, 4 rebounds).

Senior point guard Bernice Satterwhite led Lakota East with a career high 17 points. Satterwhite also tied a career high with 6 steals.

The Thunderhawks will have a quick turnaround – playing two games in consecutive days Sunday and Monday in the Classic in the Country Challenge at Berlin Hiland High School. Lakota East will face Reynoldsburg at 1:45 p.m. Sunday and Rogers at 5 p.m. Monday. Meanwhile, Colerain won’t play again until next Saturday when it will visit Hamilton (9-4 overall, 3-4 in the GMC) at 7:30 p.m.
