The Enquirer reports:
A new CNN poll out today shows the government shutdown and debt fight hurt the Republicans – and that more than six in ten Americans would like to see West Chester’s John Boehner ousted as Speaker.
The poll, taken after the shutdown ended, found that only 38 percent said it was “good for the country’ to have the GOP in control of the U.S. House – down from 51 percent in December, 2012.
“John Boehner fares just as badly as the GOP,” CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. “Sixty-three percent of all Americans think that Boehner should be replaced as Speaker of the House, a view shared by roughly half of all Republicans.”
The poll was conducted for CNN by ORC International, with 841 adults nationwide questioned by telephone. The survey’s overall sampling error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. The poll was conducted Friday through Sunday, just after the end of the 16-day partial federal government shutdown.
