Alicia’s Lungs, a charity raising funds for Lakota graduate Alicia Lang, who has cystic fibrosis and needs to have a double-lung transplant, will be having a aluminum can drive from 8 a.m. to noon this Saturday at Lakota West High School.

The charity group is asking community members to collect and drop off their aluminum cans in the front southwest corner of the high school’s parking lot. The drop-off area is near the corner of Union Centre Blvd. and West Chester Road.

Lang is currently listed for a double-lung transplant at Loyola in Chicago and at the Cleveland Clinic. The transplant will be scheduled when a lung becomes available.

The family is anticipating around $350,000 in bills that will not be covered by their insurance, which covers 80 percent of the cost.

Alicia’s Lungs, a charity raising funds for Lakota graduate Alicia Lang, who has cystic fibrosis and needs to have a double-lung transplant, will be having a aluminum can drive this Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. to noon at Lakota West High School.

The charity group is asking community members to collect and drop off their aluminum cans in the front southwest corner of the high school’s parking lot. The drop-off area is near the corner of Union Centre Blvd. and West Chester Road.

Lang is currently listed for a double-lung transplant at Loyola in Chicago and at the Cleveland Clinic. The transplant will be scheduled when a lung becomes available.

The charity group is asking community members to collect and drop off their aluminum cans in the front southwest corner of the high school’s parking lot. The drop-off area is near the corner of Union Centre Blvd. and West Chester Road.

Lang is currently listed for a double-lung transplant at Loyola in Chicago and at the Cleveland Clinic. The transplant could take place this summer, but could be scheduled for a later date depending when a lung becomes available.

Upcoming fundraising events for Alicia Lungs include a tennis outing at the Riverside Athletic Club in Hamilton April 2, a charity walk at Lakota West May 7 and a motorcycle ride at Tri-County Harley-Davidson in Fairfield June 11.

There are eight ways people can help Alicia’s fight against cystic fibrosis:

- Donate at any Fifth Third Bank
- Become a committee member
- Volunteer for an upcoming event
- Attend the upcoming events
- Buy and sell raffle tickets
- Bid on auction items online and at events
- Become an organ donor
- Spread the word about Alicia
