John Kiesewetter reports:
Brandy Neelly’s “American Idol” dream ended Tuesday without her singing a note.
In a surprise twist, only 10 of the 15 female semifinalists were chosen by judges to sing on the first live show tonight, and she wasn’t one. Fox did post a photo of her makeup session as part of mentor Randy Jackson’s workshop, but viewers didn’t see that on TV. For a fourth straight year, the blonde country singer didn’t make the finals.
Judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. did not explain how or why they chose the 10 women to sing from the 15 who advanced from last week. The same thing will happen for the 15 men Wednesday night (8-10 p.m., Channel 19) — only 10 of the 15 semifinalists will sing.
Viewers votes tonight and Wednesday will determine 10 of the 13 finalists. The judges will add three wild card singers.
The top 13 will be announced 8-9 p.m. Thursday live on Fox.
