Robert D. “Bob” age 80, resident of West Chester Township passed away Jan. 21, 2013. Bob was born to David R. Lyons and Lucile Lyons (Van Blarcum) on Jan. 6, 1933 in Cincinnati.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine Lyons (Hagen), whom he married Aug. 29, 1953. Also survived by son, Robert Hagen Lyons (Bea), and daughter Cydney Lyons; grandchildren; Chris Xeil Lyons-Stubenrauch (Douglas), William A. Lyons, Robert A. Lyons, Kara H. Lyons, and Katherine Fant; step-grandson, Philip Stubenrauch; cousins, Mike Lyons and Beth Hueil, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one brother: Lawrence Lyons (Sallie).
Bob grew up in Cincinnati, he graduated from Withrow High School (1951), the University of Cincinnati (1955) and University of Cincinnati, College of Law (1959). He served in the U.S. Air Force as a radar specialist where he attained the rank of captain. Bob was a lawyer, entrepreneur, businessman and farmer. He started many businesses in the Greater Cincinnati area.
He and Mrs. Lyons bred, raised, trained and showed champion dogs and horses from Lyonhil Farm in West Chester. He was a past president of the Cincinnati Zoo Safari Club. He and Mrs. Lyons traveled extensively with the Cincinnati Zoo, and the Cincinnati Nature Center to many places including, Africa, India, China, Europe, South America and the Galapagos Islands.
Later in his professional career he practiced law with his son, Rob, at the law firm of Lyons & Lyons Co., L.P.A. until his retirement in 2004.
