Julie Shaffer will lead the Lakota Board of Education this year.
Starting her third year as a board member, Shaffer was elected president during the board’s organizational meeting this week.
“I look forward to serving as the president of this board. I appreciate the support from my fellow board members,” Shaffer said.
“We have a lot of work to do to meet all of the commitments we have made to this community and I look forward to working with all of our stakeholders to accomplish our goals.”
Prior to serving on the board, Shaffer was a member of the district’s finance committee and as treasurer of the Lakota District Parent Council.
Assisting Shaffer will be Ben Dibble, elected board vice president. The father of two Lakota graduates, he is starting his second, four-year term on the board.
The mother of three children in the Lakota Schools, Shaffer has been a resident of the district since 2005. She is a licensed employee benefits representative.
Dibble works for HP Enterprise Services and has lived in the district since 1995.
Joining them on the board are Todd Parnell, who is beginning his first term on the board; along with returning members Ray Murray and Lynda O’Connor.
