Lakota is considering changes that would begin classes much earlier in August, with the semester ending before the winter holiday break. That would give teachers more time to present more material before the tests are administered.
It would still give students three days off at Thanksgiving and two weeks off for winter break.
Under the proposal, school would begin Aug. 13, 2015. Thanks giving break would be Nov. 25-27, 2015. Winter break would begin Dec. 21, 2015, with students returning to class Jan. 5, 2016.
Spring break would begin March 25, 2016 with classes resuming April 4, 2016. The last day of school for students would be May 20, 2016, with graduation the next day.
Community members may give their opinion online through Dec. 31. A final decision won’t be made until sometime in January.
