A new sub and pizza restaurant will bring the East coast to West Chester when it opens in January.
Milano’s Atlantic City Submarines plans to open Jan. 13 in the former Marlin & Ray’s space at 7701 Voice of America Centre Drive.
The West Chester restaurant will be the Dayton-based chain’s fourth restaurant and first location in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Milano’s first opened in 1969 on the campus of the University of Dayton and has since expanded to Beavercreek and Montgomery County’s Miami Township.
The dine-in, full-service restaurant serves up sub sandwiches, pizza, salads, calzones and craft brews (PDF menu here).
Owner John Slaughenhaupt says Atlantic subs are all about the bread, which the shop bakes fresh daily, in addition to its fresh-baked pizza doughs.
“It’s not quite a baguette but it’s soft on inside and crusty on the outside,” he said.
Crowd favorites include Milano’s cheesesteaks, Chicago-style Italian beef and turkey subs sandwiches and its deluxe, BBQ chicken and cheesesteak pizzas.
Subs are offered in whole or half sizes; a whole size is about 13 inches, said Slaughenhaupt. Prices range from about $6 to $8 for a half sub and about $10 to $14 for a whole sandwich. Pizzas start at $6.49 for a small and $12.49 for a large.
The new 6,700-square-foot location will seat 280 and employ about 120, said Slaughenhaupt. The restaurant features flat-screen TVs for sports-viewing and will have 30 taps on site offering mostly craft brews.
Restaurant hours will be 11 a.m. – midnight M-Thurs.; 11 a.m. – 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.
Milano’s is conducting on-site interviews between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the new restaurant.
The company has no immediate plans to open additional locations in the Greater Cincinnati area, but Slaughenhaupt said he’s not ruling out future expansion in the area.
“We feel Milano’s has been a real good Dayton concept that we will translate very well in Cincinnati,” he said.
