Tuesday is off to a cold and frosty start at 30 degrees.
It will be sunny later with the high temperature just reaching 45 degrees, below the normal high of 52 for this time of year, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
The low tonight will fall to a frigid 26, nearly 10 degrees below the normal low.
The rest of the work week will be mostly cloudy with showers moving in by Thursday night.
Daytime highs will hover in the low 50s with overnight lows in the 40s and 30s.
Get used to the brisk weather. It’s not going away anytime soon. In fact, it’s going to get worse this weekend as more rain and a cold front arrives.
By Sunday, a blast of Arctic air will keep overnight lows and daytime highs in the 20s, said meteorologist Allen Randall.
Rain is in the forecast Friday and Saturday. The sun will return on Sunday, but the mercury will struggle to break 28 degrees.
Overnight lows will plunge well below freezing, around 20 degrees, by early Monday.
