Why are you running?
I want Liberty Township to continue on the good path that it is on, but I want to bring a more libertarian perspective to the Board of Trustees regarding current operations and setting future strategies. I will be a strong advocate of free-market approaches to business issues. I will work to protect against infringements on individual property rights. I will promote continued fiscal responsibility.
Why are you the best candidate?
I bring 40 years of business experience, expertise in Accounting and Auditing, and a desire to contribute to the growth and improvement of Liberty Township. In my 32 years at Cincinnati Bell, I applied Six Sigma/continuous improvement concepts and will translate those concepts to improve the Township.
What services are you willing to cut?
The Township is well run, and I will continue the high level of fiscal responsibility. The Township budget should be developed from the bottom up, so all services should undergo a cost/benefit analysis in the budgeting process. Services that no longer benefit residents cost effectively will be addressed (eliminated, reduced or handled more economically).
What fees or taxes are you willing to raise in order to keep or expand government services?
From my libertarian perspective, I am not willing to raise taxes or expand government services. The residents of Liberty Township expect the Trustees to “live within their means” and manage the Township services and resources in a prudent manner.
What services are you willing to share with other governments?
A significant amount of sharing of services is already occurring with Butler County and other Townships. A good example is working with the Butler County Sheriff’s Department for police protection. I am willing to investigate any sharing arrangement that can be of mutual benefit to the government entities and improve the condition of Liberty Township residents.
What are Liberty Township’s three largest hurdles, and how would you overcome these issues?
The Trustees need to focus on ensuring the success of the Liberty Way project. It is important because continued progress in this area of the Township will help spur growth for the entire Township. I bring financial and management experience to work with the developers and businesses to achieve the full potential of this development district.
We need to spur job creation/retention and economic development throughout the Township.
Working to make Liberty Way successful will spur economic development. Consistent zoning and tax treatment throughout the rest of the Township will help retain and attract businesses.
As the Township grows, it is important to balance our constitutionally protected individual property rights with the planning needed to move the Township forward. As zoning issues arise, I will continue to speak against potential infringements on personal property rights.
