Costumed pooches and their owners are invited to Sunday’s Howl event at the Voice of America Park Lodge.
Registration begins at 2:30 p.m., for the afternoon, which runs from 3-5 p.m. at the park, located off Cox Road at 7850 VOA Park Dr.
Kids in costume and their four-legged friends can go trick-or-treating at 10 stations along the path surrounding the lake. There will be treats for both children and dogs.
“There’s nowhere you can go trick-or-treating with your pet so we decided to change it from just a parade,’’ said Julie Edmond, special events coordinator for MetroParks of Butler County.
“We even have rescue dogs children can take to go trick-or-treating if they don’t have their own pet.”
Each pet will receive a bandana and treat bag, Edmond said.
There will be food and beverages available for purchase for dogs and their owners. All dogs must be on a leash while they’re in the park.
Admission is $5 per dog; kids are free with a paid dog. All proceeds benefit the VOA Park’s Wiggly Field Dog Park Fund at the West Chester/Liberty Community Foundation.
Visitors must have a motor vehicle permit to enter the park. It is free to Butler County residents with proof of residency. Non-residents can purchase a $5 one-day permit or $10 annual hangtag at the gate.
