Mike Dyer reports:
Lakota West senior quarterback Malik Grove set the record for the most wins (17) in the 55-year history of Lakota football, according to Lakota District historian Bob Ashby.
Grove broke the record after the Firebirds’ 66-7 win over Princeton Oct. 18. The win tops the previous high mark of 16 set by Tate Johnson (Lakota Class of 1996), according to Ashby.
Grove has been the starting quarterback in 21 games (all consecutive) and has been on the winning side in 17 of them for a winning percentage of 81 percent, Ashby said.
