Three years ago Adam Hartman initiated the fundraiser, which benefits the Gebhart Cancer Center at Fort Hamilton Hospital.
It was organized and still run by the boys soccer team. This year’s game will be played Monday, at the Virgil Schwarm Stadium at Hamilton High School.
Badin will take on Cincinnati Christian with a 7:15 p.m., start.
“My brother started it and it’s an important thing to continue,” said senior Jake Hartman, who is helping run this year’s – the team’s fourth – game and fundraiser.
“I’m very proud of what the soccer team is doing. I’ve had two good friends beat cancer, and both of my grandparents have fought through it. The game has taken on an entirely new meaning for me this year.”
Cancer survivors and those still battling the disease will be honored on the field before the game. They will be escorted by members of the soccer team.
Split the Pot, sucker sales and other events will also take place and benefit both the cancer center and the Dragonfly Foundation, which provides support to children, teens and young adults battling cancer or blood diseases.
Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $4 for students.
