Two part-time firefighters will be joining the Liberty Township Fire Department by month’s end pending results of drug tests and background checks.
Trustees okayed the hiring of Matthew Korst and Jordon Shepherd. Their hiring brings the department to about 100 career and part-time firefighters, including officers, said Chief Paul Stumpf.
“After they complete orientation and finals tests, they’ll be put on the schedule,’’ Stumpf said.
A Mason resident, Korst works at the Wyoming Fire Department. He is certified as an emergency medical technician and enrolled in a paramedic program.
Shepherd works for the Colerain Township Fire Department and lives in West Harrison Indiana. He is certified as a paramedic.
Korst will earn $12.50 per hour and Shepherd will earn $13.50 per hour.
