No one likes a misleading headline, so let me clarify. The headline should read, “Drawing Cingranis.” That is two Cingranis. One big Cingrani and one little Cingrani. Both created on a canvas in the matter of minutes.
Mark Thesken calls it his fun job. The Colerain artist will perform at corporate functions, charity events, church fundraisers and autograph signings, evidently. He calls it live art. He calls himself an artist-in-action.
On Tuesday, at the Sports Gallery in West Chester Township, this speed artist drew Tony Cingrani while the Cincinnati Reds star rookie pitcher signed autographs for hundreds of fans.
The signing event was one of many that have taken place at West Chester sports memorabilia shop. Next Thursday, Aug. 8 from from 6:30 to 8 p.m., starting pitcher Mike Leake and relief pitcher Sam LeCure will participate in a joint signing session at the Sports Gallery. Tickets for that signing session are $45, which includes one autograph from both players.
If you are looking for an autograph of another hard-throwing lefty, Aroldis Chapman will be signing autographs on Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sports Depot located at Newport on the Levee. Tickets for autographs are $49 for photos, flats and baseballs; and $80 for baseball bats and jerseys. There is also a $20 charge for inscriptions. That event is being put together by CEI Sports.
