The Lakota Board of Education recently approved the appointments of a new curriculum director and a elementary school principal.
Marlon J. Styles Jr. of West Chester was approved to be the school district’s executive director of curriculum and instruction. Styles will begin Aug. 1 and earn a salary of $100,000.
Styles has been serving as the principal of Mt. Healthy Jr./Sr. High School since 2011. Prior to that, he served as assistant principal at Wyoming High School and at Northwest High school. He began his career as a middle school math teacher in the Winton Woods School District in 2002. He is a graduate of Thomas More College and has a master’s degree in education from the University of Cincinnati.
“He has been an outstanding instructional leader everywhere he has been,” said Lakota Superintendent Karen Mantia. “We are very happy to have him coming to Lakota in this very important position.”
The Lakota school district also approved the appointment of Jodi Leichman as the new principal of Adena Elementary. She is replacing Ericka Simmons, who resigned to take the principal position at Mariemont Elementary School.
Leichman, who has been a principal since 2010 in Carlisle Local Schools, will earn a salary of $89,500. Before Carlisle, she was an assistant principal for three years in Beavercreek City Schools, a school improvement consultant with the Hamilton County Educational Service Center and a teacher in Hamilton City Schools. Leichman is a graduate of Muskingum College and has master’s of art in teaching from Miami University.
