It’ll be a great day to take the kids to the pool.
Sunny, clear skies with a high temperature of 85 degrees this afternoon will help usher in the first official day of summer, which officially begins at 1:04 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Humidity will remain low today, but it will creep up over the next several days as southerly winds pull moisture up from the Gulf of Mexico.
Tonight will be clear with a low around 63.

The sun will continue to dominate the forecast this weekend as daytime highs hit 90 degrees.
There is a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Saturday.
Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny with the mercury rising to 89.
We will make the 90-degree mark on Sunday and stay there again Monday. Tuesday’s high will be 89.
Overnight lows also will be warmer than usual, in the low 70s.
Normally this time of year, high temperatures are around 83 with overnight lows of 63.
