Cincinnati Reds All-Star second baseman Brandon Phillips is expected to return to the lineup tonight, after suffering an injury to his non-signing hand, to face his team’s biggest rival – the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:10 p.m. at Great American Ball Park.
On Saturday, however, Phillips will return to the Sports Gallery, 7967 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, in West Chester Township for a signing session. BP had previously held a signing event at the sports memorabilia shop in the summer of 2011.
Saturday’s signing event will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. The Reds will face the Cardinals later that night at 7:15 p.m. Cincinnati will wrap up the series on Sunday at 8:05 p.m.
Entering Friday, the Reds are three games behind St. Louis for first place in the National League Central Division. St. Louis, with a win-loss record of 39-21, has the best record in Major League Baseball.
“We are highly anticipating this event. We feel that Brandon will be a another Hall-of-Fame second baseman to play for the Cincinnati Reds,” said Mark Fugate, co-owner of the Sports Gallery. “I don’t think people realize how good he really is, offensively he is about to pass Joe Morgan in all his categories and there is no one better defensively right now than BP.”
Tickets, which usually sell better at the shop for weeknight signing events, are almost sold out. There are only 40 or so left.
Tickets (one autograph per ticket) are $60 for smaller items, such as a mini-helmet, baseball card, baseball or any flat item up to 16×20. For larger items, such as a bat, jersey, equipment, flat item more than a 16×20, painting or game used item are $75.
Fugate also confirmed a future signing event with fellow Red, starting third baseman Todd Frazier. Tickets (again, one autograph per ticket) are $30 for smaller items and $35 for larger items. That signing event will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. July 20.
Prior to signing events or on the day of the event, the Sports Gallery will also have baseballs, bats, photos, cards, helmets and other Reds collectibles available for purchase. For more information about the events, call 513-759-4256.
