Shannon Russell reports:Xavier sophomore Korey Ward will be among the 10 individuals and 13 teams competing in the regional of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships May 16-18 in Columbus. He’ll play in a 54-hole regional at the OSU Golf Club Scarlet Course.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals. The finals will take place May 28-June 2, at The Capital City Club, Crabapple Course in Atlanta.
The Lakota West grad and All-Atlantic 10 selection recently finished fourth in the A-10 Championship in Coral Springs, Fla. He posted three Top Five finishes in 10 tournaments this year and recorded a 71.8 scoring average.
Ward’s NCAA berth marks the third straight year and 10th time in 13 years that the Xavier men’s golf program has sent an individual or team to an NCAA regional. It’s also the third straight year and fifth time in seven years that a Musketeers men’s individual golfer has qualified for the NCAA Championships.
