West Chester will host the first Cincy Nation Mud Run, an event where participants can race through obstacles on a 2.11-mile course of sludge.
Jeff McMahon, event organizer, hopes that there will be between 3,000 and 5,000 participants. Currently, there are a few hundred already signed up for the mud run, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. June 22.
Overall, there will be more than 50 obstacles on the course. The obstacles include a beer pit, tire swings, trampoline jumps, walls to scale, balance beams, as well as military-type obstacles.
To participate, the cost to register by May 31 is $80. There are also discounts to students, participants signing up as a team, members of the military, members of fleet feet and through online websites such as Groupon, Living Social and Cincy Savers.
The event will also have food from LaRosa’s and Qdoba, as well as beer from the Mt. Carmel Brewing Company in the post-race party pit.
The National Guard is sponsoring the event and will provide activities for children, as well as humvees with rocket and machine gun turrets.
Organizers are encouraging participants to donate items and/or money to Matthew 25: Ministries.
