Rain, snow this week before warm-up

Jennifer Edwards Baker reports:

Another winter system is headed our way this week, bringing 1 to 3 inches of snow.

It will be dry today with plenty of sun but cold. It’s 18 degrees this morning at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Later, the mercury will reach 39 degrees.

There is a slight chance of rain showers tonight around midnight, followed by chance for a mix of rain and snow, said meteorologist John Franks.

It will be cloudy with a low of 31.

Rain will possibly mix with snow Tuesday morning. If that occurs, less than a half inch of snow could accumulate.

The wintry mix will change to all rain in the afternoon as the high climbs to 40.

As the temperature slips to the low 30s Tuesday night, the rain will mix again with snow and then turn into all snow after midnight.

The snow could be heavy at times, piling up to 1-3 inches by Wednesday afternoon. The high will be 36.

It will be cloudy with a low around 28 Wednesday night.

Once the winter storm heads out of the region, warmer air finally will filter in.

The sun will make a welcome return Thursday with a high near 44 degrees.

By Friday, the mercury will hit the 50s and stay there through the weekend.

Expect plenty of sun and a high of 56 on Saturday.

Overnight lows will be in the upper 30s.
