The Board of Directors of the Cincinnati Tea Party announced Thursday that it has elected Ann Becker, who is currently the president of the West Chester Tea Party, as its new president.
Becker, 36, of West Chester, succeeds George Brunemann, who has served as the Cincinnati Tea Party’s since 2011. Becker said that she will also remain president of the West Chester branch.
“The work of the Tea Party is more important now than ever. Holding the position of Cincinnati Tea Party President is one I don’t take lightly,” Becker said. “The role of the Tea Party is to stand for the principles that founded this country and I will do that with dedication and pride in the Cincinnati Tea Party and in the West Chester Tea Party.”
Becker has been active in the Tea Party since 2009 and also helped lead local efforts to pass the Health Care Freedom Amendment in 2011.
“Ann will add the energy and drive that the liberty movement will need in the tough times ahead,” said Mike Wilson, founder of the Cincinnati Tea Party. “As we look to the future, we must continue to educate our citizenry on the fundamental tea party principles of fiscal responsibility, limited government and free markets. Ann will be a great leader in that effort.”
