Lakota East and Lakota West are both one game out of first place behind Sycamore in the Greater Miami Conference standings with one regular season game to go.

Both East and West were victorious on Friday – East defeated Middletown, 83-67, and West defeated Fairfield, 59-44. After the wins, both teams improved to 8-5 in conference play and are tied with Fairfield and Middletown for second place in the GMC.
Lakota East senior standout Stedman Lowry scored a career-high 32 points. Lowry made all 10 of free-throw attempts, pulled down 7 rebounds, dished out 5 assists and had 3 steals.
Junior Vincent Edwards, who scored 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss, led Middletown. According to Yahoo! Sports, Edwards has offers from Dayton, Purdue, West Virginia and Xavier.
East is scheduled to play at Fairfield this Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Lakota West outscored Fairfield 20-10 in the final quarter to pull away to a 59-44 win on Friday night.
The Firebirds’ guard trio of senior Ali Barnes (19 points, 5 rebounds), junior Tyler Williams (14 points) and junior Malik Grove (13 points) combined to score 46 points. 6-foot-8 junior center Tyler Bowling added 8 points and 14 rebounds in the win.

Lakota West 50, Oak Hills 40 - Sophomore guard Lauren Canatelli scored 15 points to lead Lakota West. Freshman guard Nia Staples added 10 points for the Firebirds. Oak Hills was led by senior point guard Mackenzie Laumann with 15 points. Lakota West extended its winning streak to nine games to improve to 19-3. Oak Hills fell to 6-16. The game was Lakota West’s last of the regular season. It won’t begin postseason play until next Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Harrison High School against the winner of the Walnut Hills and St. Ursula matchup, which will be played on Valentine’s Day (Thursday).

Lakota East 42, Fairfield 39 – The Thunderhawks help force Fairfield to turn the ball over 25 times in their win on Saturday afternoon. The win is Lakota East’s second in three games. It was the Thunderhawks last game of the regular season. East will play its first postseason game next Saturday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. at Kings High School against Little Miami.
