Lakota West and Lakota East boys’ basketball teams won their games on Friday night and are both 6-3 within the Greater Miami Conference. Fairfield (10-6, 6-3), Sycamore (9-7, 6-3) and Middletown (9-8, 6-3) are also tied with the Lakotas through Sunday.

Lakota West 72, Princeton 68: The Firebirds won their seventh straight when they defeated Princeton on Friday night. Senior guard Ali Barnes scored a season-high 25 points in the win. Junior guards Tyler Williams and Malik Grove combined to add 34 points.

Princeton 70, Lakota East 56: East kept it close and trailed the Vikings, 46-41, heading into the fourth quarter. However, were outscored 24-15 in the final frame. Sophomore Cydney Franklin led East with a game-high 13 points and a game-high five steals.

Earlier last week, Lakota East defeated Edgewood 58-6 to advance to the regional semifinals, while Lakota West lost its quarterfinal match 40-27 against Springboro in the state team wrestling tournament.
The win for East means that it will face Mason in the semifinals on Wednesday at 6 p.m. If it wins, East will face the winner of the Fairfield/Springboro match 20 minutes after the conclusion of the match. All matches will be held at Fairfield Middle School.
